This episode starts with a public service announcement from every flight attendant on earth: if you see the lavatory flush button, please push it. Shawn and G kick things off with a very real, very gross airplane bathroom rant that every crew member and frequent flyer will understand immediately. Somehow, that turns into remote-control flushing, Ally McBeal, and a lavatory invention that probably should never be trusted to two flight attendants sitting on a jumpseat.
From there, the guys get into the strange chaos of “light flights.” You would think fewer passengers means an easier day, but apparently it just means people start treating the airplane like open seating at a school bus convention. Dogs come out of carriers, bags go everywhere, passengers want to move up to Economy Plus, and suddenly the flight that should have been simple turns into a full customer-service workout.
Then the travel advice gets real. Shawn and G talk about passengers coming over from canceled flights, last-minute tickets, low-cost carrier risks, and why booking a flight the same day as your cruise is one of the boldest vacation decisions you can make. They also break down the difference between asking a crew member for help the right way and coming onboard already mad at the wrong people.
The episode also gets into one of the hardest parts of the job: de-escalation. From entitled passengers to the guy who boards already looking for a fight, Shawn and G explain how flight attendants have to keep their cool even when someone is clearly trying to push every button. Thankfully, the chaos gets balanced out with crew coffee confusion, an elderly passenger asking for help with free Wi-Fi, and the kind of stories that remind you people are still funny even when travel is a mess.
And because this is Cabin Pressure, the airline talk somehow turns into Shawn transplanting a tree, breaking a sprinkler line, standing over a muddy hole questioning every life choice, and G enjoying the whole thing a little too much.
Finally, the guys go around the globe with turbulence diversions, a lithium battery evacuation video that proves passengers need training too, a man holding an alligator like a baby, a painful national anthem moment, and a mesmerizing iceberg flip that sends them briefly into science mode.

Lavatory Etiquette And The Flush Button
GOn behalf of every crew member and every person on the plane, if you see a little sign that says flush and there's a little down arrow, pushed a button.
ShawnHey man, brother, are you kidding me? I am so tired. Every single time I walk into the freaking lavatory, right? Someone they they They left a present for you? They leave the yeah, an unwanted present.
GYeah.
ShawnUnwanted.
GYeah.
ShawnIs it is it you either get a big big chocolate tissue roll. Don't even want to talk about flights. Yeah, but you you know, we do the South American flights. Right. They can't find the damn, they can't find the freaking uh receptacle either. And here's the thing we like we have Spanish.
GThere's like all the signs and all the packards on our plane here in America are in Spanish or it's in English, right? Yeah. Yeah. I don't get it.
ShawnPush the button. Push the damn button. Push the A button. Nobody's gonna get mad. Do whatever. They push the call button. Kick something. It is so gross. Yeah, it is gross. I hate walking in on that.
GAre you um um do you remember what was that show? Oh my gosh. I can't there was a show, uh, lawyer show. Uh what the heck is that show? It was the girl, Allie McBeal. Yeah. I remember that one. Yeah. Remember that dude and Alec McBeal? There was a lawyer, and every time he went into the thing, he had like a little remote control flush thing because he always wanted a fresh toilet.
ShawnNo, I I didn't actually see the show. I remember the show, but I don't remember. I was like, that shit's a genius. I wish I could like boom. You could have one of those from the jump seat.
GYeah.
ShawnRight. Boom.
GYeah. Excuse me, how do we flush it? Oh, no problem. As we walks, as we see somebody walking out the door into their seats and leave the door open. Yeah, we could hit the flush button. Yeah, we can go.
ShawnOh, we'd have a shitload of fun with that. Could you imagine sitting on the jump seat and they're on the toilet? And push it when they just push it. It's like a pre-flush. Exactly.
GSon of a whoa! What the hell?
SPEAKER_00What's wrong with this thing?
GSome of those, some of the planes are like super sucked. I know. Junk would be like, whoa. I did not. I just got a flush job.
ShawnExcuse me. Can you do that again?
GI don't know who did that, but can you push the button again?
ShawnAll from leaving a page. I haven't been tugged like that in years.
GIt's horrible.
ShawnMan, you're killing me. You're killing me, man. Anyways.
Florida Weather And Easy Flights Gone Wrong
ShawnThis week the weather has been crazy down in Florida. Yeah. I know you've been doing you've been doing your international stuff, but the Florida weather, has Carol going to tell you about the weather down there? Yeah. Crazy. Yeah. I mean, I mean, but this is the time, right? I know. It's coast to coast, though. It's every freaking day. I know. It's tiring. This is tiring. Yeah, but you know, you get those flights, you get the light one, right? Right. And you're thinking, easy. Yeah. It's gonna be easy, right? Yeah. Board is gonna be easy. No passengers, you're going down, it's a light load. So you get all that turbine? No, no, no, no, no. Not even that. Five minutes into the boarding process, it went to shit.
unknownOh.
ShawnWhy? Because the people. Oh. Because the you get these people, then all of a sudden it's like there's there's 30 or 40 people on there. And first thing they say, well, can we move up to the front?
GOh, so you're telling me, so like the you're let's complete this story here you're talking about. You're talking about like other airlines canceling, all of a sudden you have to get away. No, no, like we have a light flight, and then oh no.
ShawnNo, we have a we had a light flight going down. Right. What I was saying is that when you have a light flight, right, and in five minutes, there's all those open seats. And all the open seats, the very first thing. Well, can I move up? Yeah, the very first thing. Yeah. Is first can I move up? Yeah. Then dogs out of the carrier. Yeah. Bags of mess in a roast. No, this is a light flight. There's there's nobody on there. Right. And it is it goes to shit.
GTheir shit gets loose. Everything. Right. Everybody just like everybody like, oh, it's we got room. We don't have to be like stuffed in sardines.
Assigned Seating And The Move-Up Fight
ShawnLet's just do whatever we want to do. Yeah, and you get into this argument all the time about the economy plus seating on an aircraft. Yeah. And you know, when people are they don't understand, well, why can't we sit up there? And I'm like, well, you picked that seat, and they're like, that's that doesn't make any sense that seat is open.
GCan you imagine like, okay, so we our airline that we work for, we have like different classes of seats, right? Okay. And then not every airline out there does, right? Right. We know that there's but we have never worked for an airline that didn't. No, yeah. We wouldn't have where we wouldn't have to do this shit.
ShawnRight. Dogs are out of the carrier, the the freaking rows are a mess. Right. And everybody wants to move forward. We have this all the time. Right. So it takes a simple fight, a simple fight all of a sudden becomes a big pain in the ass. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
GI mean, for us, the carrier that has the different classes, and then everybody wants to like jump classes just because it's empty. Like, this is not a school bus. No. This is not like open, this is not public transportation. You just like go to any seat you want. This is assigned seating. I mean, even the lower cost carriers are going to assign seating now, right? Yeah. Like, so it's like this is uh industry-wide, you go, you pay for a seat, this is the seat you get. Right.
ShawnYeah. Don't expect it. Well, you don't go, you don't go to a basketball game, a baseball game, you pay, you know, six dollars for the nosebleed section, and you go sit in the club. Oh, yeah, they do.
GTo to bring that point up, so just this last weekend, I went to a concert. We went to train, right? Yeah. And it was, we had a lightning delay at a concert. So I was like, this is just like the airlines, right? Yeah. And so we had a lightning delay. And so they started the concert late. So Matt Nathson, that was supposed to open up for him, he got axed. Couldn't play. Okay. So then it's boring rain. I'm talking like people had like umbrellas, they had ponchos, all this stuff, but they were doing exactly what you're saying. They were sneaking in, trying to get any open seat they can. Right. And they weren't even sly about it because the people coming in in wet ponchos, yeah. Sitting with all the people under the overhang with the dry ponchos kind of stuck out.
ShawnTry to do that, try to do that in the NBA game. Try to try to go on the court seat on the NBA. People do that. I know they try to do it, but it doesn't work.
GThey upgrade the seat. Might not that like that, like not to like front row court side, but they do like in the stands and stuff.
ShawnLike, I know they see they see an open seat, yeah, and they go down there and they they go sitting there. But you know, on a plane it's easier, we catch them. Right. And then we boot them out because you don't pay for it. Right. But you see a lot of passengers that that get pissed off. This it's not fair to the people that are paying. No, it's not. But this week we had um we had flights to where we had we had uh seating available and the other airlines canceled.
SPEAKER_03Right.
ShawnSo you know how they either buy tickets on us, they dump them all on us, well either get dumped on us, right, or they have to purchase the seating on us.
GIf they want to get to the point, I mean that's that's kind of like the risk that you take when you're flying a low-cost carrier, right? Right. I mean, so like as a major airline that we are on, right, we have the infrastructure if we cancel, we can get new planes, we can get another other crews, we have like there's ways to replace it and fix it to be able to for them to still have that flight, right? Yeah, whereas other airlines that are low cost, if it cancels or it has a mechanical or whatever, you're just shit out of luck. Yeah, well, the ship just and then so then last minute, you have to buy those last minute tickets on a major carrier, which are not cheap because the closer it is to that date of
Canceled Flights And Cruise Day Mistakes
Gtime to fly, the more expensive it is, right?
ShawnNow, talking about that, we just dealt with that this week because we had passengers come over, you know, um, been doing Fort Lauderdale, that's a huge cruise line area. So these passengers, what'd they do? They booked the same day as the cruise. Dumbest, that that has got to be the dumbest thing that that you could possibly do. I I don't get it, man.
GI mean, I I could so if you buy the insurance for the cruise, right? Still, though, I mean and then you book the same day, okay. At least you have protection, you know, because if something goes wrong, I have insurance, okay.
ShawnBut you've been waiting how long to go on the damn vacation. Right. And because you didn't go down the day before and stay in the hotel. Yeah. So anyway, they they but they moved them over to ours. Right. Then what they do. Yeah, well, she this these two were like, oh yeah, thanks to your airline, you cost us sixteen hundred dollars. I'm like, well, how'd how we cost you sixteen hundred? She said, Well, our our flight canceled and we had to buy tickets on your airline. That ain't our fault. Wait, am I missing something? So you picked the wrong one. She or he is missing something for sure. But you picked that's why I'm missing sixteen hundred dollars. I said you picked the wrong one, and then you were going down the day of your cruise. Right. You're like, oh, for two.
GYeah.
ShawnMakes no sense.
GHey, stupid is and stupid does.
ShawnYeah. Then you had family. Family come on. Now, this is completely ridiculous. Right. They come on, they're not in the seats. They, they, um, uh they were on the other flight too. Okay. So they're not sitting seating together. Oh, okay. So she starts effing this and effing that about the airline. I'm like, why are you effing this or effing that about the airline? Right. You're taking whatever. Well, at first I didn't know. I was like, okay, well, why are you doing this? And she goes, Well, we canceled our flight and then we got stuck on here. And I'm like, wait a minute, you got stuck on here. You didn't get stuck on here. They they put you over here to get you to where you need to go. And we're trying to get you there. Well, what happened was her parents weren't sitting with her.
SPEAKER_03Right.
ShawnSo they had to get moved. And and I had to move them. I said, and her parents were so nice. Right. I mean, they were so nice. They were elderly. It was like a sitter. Uh they were an elderly Polynesian couple. And I moved them to the to the Economy Plus. They had Economy Plus seating. Then I asked this guy if he'd move, and he was nice enough to move, and they were sitting right next to each each other. I go back there and I and I tell her, I'm like, just want to let you know I took care of your parents, got them together, right? Got them snack boxes, they're all set, and they're the nicest people.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
ShawnAnd I'm just like looking at her and wondering, where'd you come from? Why didn't you how they get you did not pay attention. You did not pay attention.
GYou didn't learn from your parents.
ShawnYou didn't learn shit. Because they're in the economy plus sitting next to each other with snack boxes, and you're back here with the kids.
GWell, it's a it's that whole approach, you know, like they're the victims, you know? It's that whole mentality right now that's in the whole world right now. US is like they're the victims and they're they're the ones that should be, you know. Oh, oh, woe is me. You know, I got screwed. Well, no, you didn't get screwed.
ShawnYou got saved.
GYeah. We're here saving your ass. Yes, and you're and you're not appreciative. Not at all, not even a little bit. Yeah. What if we didn't even exist? You didn't have any airline to go on. Well, then where are you are you? You know, like they're they approach it so, oh, thankfully, it should be like you thankfully you should we got a ticket on you. Great. But unfortunately, we got last-minute tickets and we couldn't then have all our tickets are separated. Is there any way you can help us to get together? Right. Like in that that approach is the way that it should be brought to us, right? If you want to bring it to the flight attendants of that of any airline that you're coming from a canceled flight, say, hey, listen, this is our situation.
De-Escalation Without Mirroring Anger
GCan you help us? Right.
ShawnAnd when they get pissed off, but what's the first thing that we do when they get pissed? Right. We de-escalate. Right. We try to de-escalate the situation. So instead of focusing on her, I focused on the parents.
SPEAKER_03Right.
ShawnSo you don't want to ever mirror a person's anger. Because as soon as you do, what happens? Shit, it's fan, right? Some I mean it gets it can't be. Well, it just escalates, that's right. You're not de-escalating. I mean, it and it gets it gets heated. Right. And arguments happen, things happen, and all of a sudden somebody's not going on a vacation. Yep. So that's one of the biggest things as a flight attendant. No, truly, as a flight attendant, right? That we don't mirror the anger. Right. And that is one of the things that that happens quite a bit on the plane. Right. Because people people get angry.
GYeah. I I I mean, I totally agree. So, what's been going on with you, man?
The Passenger Who Boards To Fight
ShawnYou angry? Am I angry? Actually, I was kind of I was a little bit upset this week. What's up about by what? You ever had a guy get on board or a person? Let's say a person, but it was a guy. But they get on board, and you already know um they were just looking for a fight. Oh yeah. You're looking for a fight.
GYeah, wait, I mean, you you know those type of those characters that come on. I know, but I especially they're in a specific area. They're a male in a specific age. I know.
ShawnI love what I mean. Yeah, I love, but I love every day. I look forward to every single day. Even when I'm flying, I I I have fun when I fly. Right. You come on and you're pissed. And you know why he's pissed? Same thing. He was on a different airline, they canceled coming back, and they stuck him on our airline. Right. And he comes in there, and the very first thing, I mean the very first thing, he's looking for a fight.
SPEAKER_03Right.
ShawnI could already tell he's looking for a fight. And you know, so I'm I'm talking to him, the guy's sitting in the seat, he has his phone sitting in the seat, and his girlfriend has to sit down. He's like, get your phone.
GNow it's not asking or anything. He's antagonizing the like the other guy. Yeah, pick up your damn phone.
ShawnYeah. So now you got to sit next to this person for the next two and a half hours.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
ShawnNow everything, stick his knee out. He turns around to me. You know how we stand there during the boarding process and we go back to assist. He stands there and he goes, You need to get by? I'm like, no, I'm good. He did you know how they just look at you? Yeah, yeah. And then they just want you to say something. I'm like, I know what you're doing. See, this is what you guys don't understand. We deal with this sometimes. And it's a hardest thing, isn't it, Sean?
GOh yeah. Restrain ourselves from like engaging.
ShawnDo you ever get like, I mean, situations like that, do you get like them goosebumps? Sometimes. Sometimes I've started like getting jacked.
GLike you feel the adrenaline coming. Yeah.
ShawnIt's just like it's all of a sudden you start and you're you're thinking, nah, no, no, no, don't do it. He's trying, he's trying to do it, just don't do it. Right. And then you walk away, knees in the aisle. This is through the whole flight. The whole flight. And even at the end of the flight. Gets on his phone, starts cursing. I turned around off the jump seat. I was like, is there a problem? And he goes, No, is there a problem with you? I'm like, oh, here we go. I'm like, no, Gary, don't do it. Just just let him go off plane. Can't stand that. So yeah, I did not have a good flight. I was kind of upset about it. Well, you can't there, you know, you can't do anything. Right. You don't want to do anything because it's stupid. You already know that they're what they're doing. You can't do anything right for them. No, yeah, but but you know how how they're they're being like the way they're being. And as a guy, it's like the first thing guys want to do is what? Fight.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
ShawnThat's what they want to do. But that's that's that's that you know, young adolescent. He wasn't young, Sean. Not when he's young. He wasn't young. He was stupid.
GHow old do you think he was? Mid-30s. That's young. That's stupid. That's stupid young. Stupid. Yeah, I mean, like you're you're you're you're old enough to know better.
ShawnYeah.
GType of thing, you know.
ShawnNow I'll give you a funny
Crew Laughs Coffee Cups And Wi-Fi
Shawnone though, since I want to get off of that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
ShawnWould have you ever drank out of a crew member's uh cup? No. I hope not. So this one goes out to Monique. She was sitting there, she was my coffee was sitting on the countertop. And uh and she just picked it up and she drank it, and I was like, how was that? She was like, good. I'm like, that was mine. That look on your face. You know that oh no book.
SPEAKER_03Oh no.
GYeah. Well, I mean, like, we've been doing this so long, like I every time 99% of my drinks, like, I don't like, I know you do, like, will grab that, you know, have that little cup of coffee in the morning, right? Just and use one of our cups, right? Yep. Whereas, like myself, I put my cup in like a Yeti or something like that, you know. A specialty cup. Yeah, yeah. I bring my own damn cup, so I know nobody's gonna be drinking out of my cup. Yeah. Monique won't be picking up my damn cup going, oh, this looks like mine here. I told her I said, Don't worry, I didn't have any backwash. Right. It was so funny. It's okay, Monique. Yeah. I only have herpes.
ShawnShe was she would say, the sore, it went away. Yeah, the sore. I don't have sores anymore. So I had this, oh my god. So I had this elderly man. Uh, he rings his his call button and he said, Do we get free Wi-Fi? And I said, Yeah, as a card member, you get free Wi-Fi. Yeah. And he said, Okay. He said, Well, I put my he goes, I put my my number in, and I said, Okay, now put your password in. He looked at me and goes, Well, what's what's my password? What's my password? I go, wait a minute. What's your password? And he goes, Yeah, what's my passport? Yeah. And and I told him, I said, Well, it's like us standing at the ATM right now, and you got your card in the machine.
GAnd you're looking at me going, what's my password?
ShawnThere's no way it's gonna happen. We're not getting free Wi-Fi today. Yeah, yeah. That was funny. So I had two funny ones. I had two funny ones make up for it with with the guy that was an ass. Yeah. People are people are something else, man. Yeah, but we don't, I mean, the great thing about it is that we don't get too many of them. And he wasn't he wasn't one of our normal people. No. The funny thing here for me like he was a pick me, he was a pick-me-up.
GYeah, he was he was a he was a he was an add-on. An add-on, a pick me up. But yeah, I mean, though I will tell you, like, as I've gotten older, like those guys, those particular guys like that that we would encounter every now and then would get under my skin and I'd hang on for a while. Right? And I'd be like, oh, like, dude. I want to kick him in the face. Yeah. Should have threw him up the plane. Uh, yeah. I should have ran the card into his damn leg.
unknownLike, what?
GLike you're used to you're going through all these things. Those are those thoughts, right? They they get they're like, okay.
ShawnThey're spinning thoughts. Anymore. Anymore, like I just shine them on. Yeah, and then you're like, okay, thanks.
GYeah.
Tree Transplanting And The Broken Water Line
GI'm like, I don't even got time for you. Hey, so did you move your tree? I moved my tree, dude. So garage construction's getting ready to happen, and like I'm in the deadline now. Like, I think in like here uh seven days or something like that, I'm gonna have they're gonna start construction. So all the landscaping I did I had to transplant. So there was one tree I had to move. But you know what happened? This is a little funny thing for you. I I last night I'm out and I decide I'm gonna transplant this tree. So you gotta dig around. I even looked at a video. How should I do this to not, you know, keep it from being you know, the get the root ball and keep the tree out of too much shock and all that stuff. So I'm like a little, you know, studying up, trying to get it. So I'm digging around, getting to make sure the root ball is nice and clean, scooped it up. I like this one guy he likes he's he smart transport, slid the tree onto a tarp and then slid the tarp to a new new location. Yeah, down was better than up.
unknownExactly.
GI can tell you that. Yeah, and so I get down there and I'm like, where do I want this tree? And I'm thinking, okay, here it is. This is the place I'm gonna get the tree. Perfect spot. I dig this damn hole. So the root ball's like, I'd say like foot, foot and a half, you know. So I'm like, I gotta, I gotta dig a decent hole. And here in Ohio, clay. Yeah, after six inches, yeah. Like six inches, and boom, it's nothing but clay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
GSo I'm in there with a big huge metal freaking spike thing, and I'm jabbing in there and popping the clay and jabbing and prying, and and I'm getting this thing, and I get down like and I'm like, oh, I'm damn near a foot and a half. And I'm like just trying to now clean up the edges, and I go wham! And all of a sudden I look down, and I was freaking the Beverly Hillbillies. Freaking water starts spurting out, the hole starts filling up, swirling around. You see, like this this current happening in my.
ShawnI'm like, what the hell? That was that water line you you were looking for. Yeah, it was a water line I was looking for.
GI found it. I was like, I couldn't even imagine. I was down a foot and a half. I was like, this dude whoever did the sprinkler system like buried it pretty deep. Yeah. But I broke it. So now I'm standing there like over this damn hole going, Mother. Yeah.
ShawnDo you hate when shit like that happens?
GI'm like, I well through my mind, and I'm like, I'm like, okay, wait, wait. So now I gotta figure out. Out what I just hit, okay. So now I'm like, okay, I gotta go get a baling bucket. I'm like flipping out muddy water. Well, that was great. And I'm like, boom, boom, boom. Finally, I get the water stops going into the hole, and I get down there and here, lo and behold, this whole pipe exposes itself, and there's a pipe there. And I'm like, oh my gosh, I just broke this stupid line. So now I'm thinking I gotta fix it. And now I'm thinking, guess what? You can't go to a Home Depot anymore to get those parts anymore because Home Depot got out of the sprinkler business. Yeah. You can only order them online. And so you have to go to a professional place to get it. And I'm like, they're closed and it's too late. Dude, it was just like this whole thing was spinning. Now I'm just standing over a hole going, what am I gonna do? I'm gonna dig another damn hole. Because my tree's gonna die if I don't trigger this damn hole. So I gotta like, now I gotta figure out a new spot for the hole. I'm like, maybe I'll just like inch it over. But then I was like, well, I gotta put this tree in here and I still gotta fix this pipe, so I have to leave that open to fix it. And I'm like, no, I can't put it in the same, I can't like connect, you know, just shift a hole, make it longer. That wouldn't work. So I'm like, all right, dig another hole. Here I am.
ShawnAll you had to do is just set the tree. Just not that last one, just that last one. You figure just a little bit more clay.
GDude, I was so mad. I mean, I was so close to being done, and it was a big deep hole, and I'm like, ooh, I haven't dug a hole. This shit happens all the time.
ShawnBut then it's like, come on. The simplest you do a job, and all of a sudden the dumbest damn thing happens. Yeah. Stupidest thing.
GAnd this week for me, too, is like, this is golf week. This is like, I've been waiting all summer for this week. This is the invitational. I got a buddy coming in. Yeah, we're doing golf. This whole entire today was the first day of this the beginning of it, and it's five days of golf. I'm just being golfing every day. So I'm thinking, I don't need shit to be done or something, a to-do list, you know, that I gotta do. And I'm thinking, at first I was just like, I'm gonna walk away and just leave this tree right here, but I'm like, it would be dead by the end of the week.
ShawnIt had plenty of water in it, yeah.
GRight. Temporarily. Anyways, that would that happen. Shit was funny. Yeah.
ShawnI'm glad you enjoyed it. I do enjoy that.
GYeah.
ShawnWhen you do something stupid, dude, I thoroughly enjoy it.
GIt was it was stupid. It was it was stupid because I'm not done with my project. I've got like tons of stuff to do, and then I got this deadline. So, like, this coming Sunday, I have to like finish this job. Like, this it has to be finished that day. So, Sunday is my last day of transplanting and getting shit done. And hopefully I don't bust another waterline.
ShawnWell, at least you got your well, you got all the shit out of the way, so your golfing should be good. Yeah. So next week should we should talk about like how you did you pulled like a tiger woods on a golf course. I hope, I hope that happens. Let's let's say early Tiger Woods. Yeah. Not like a later tiger woods. We'll see. Maybe a later tiger won't be so hot. So let's go around the globe.
Turbulence Diversions And Why Seatbelts Matter
ShawnHey, 22 aircraft diverted to um Colorado Springs. You see that? No. So the turbulence has been kind of crazy. You have you guys do you guys get any of that? I mean, going um international highlights. Have you guys got any of that? I mean, no, no, it's been pretty bad. It's been pretty bad in the U.S.
GWe've been getting turbulence. Like, it's it's funny. Like, you know how like we're getting, you know, you get the pilot briefing before our flight, and we always, you know, they tell us about the weather and all that stuff. But on international flights, it's like, okay, in nine hours from now, we're gonna get some turbulence. Yeah. You're like, wow. Like that, you know, we're gonna go through this area, there's a line of storms, blah, blah, blah. Usually they're pretty close to what's going on. So we've been, you know, we've been getting a little bit of it, but nothing any crazy. And but it has like made us like change our routes big time on like turbulent like areas, and they're like, okay, we're gonna go way around this thing. So, like, and when I say way around, like you're coming across the Atlantic Ocean, and normally like we'll come across the ocean like from England area and come down and shoot down to the you know, cross Greenland and boom, down into the States. Well, then when we adjust, we might like go way up towards Iceland and Greenland and then come back down, you know, like it's it's pretty wild, but yeah, we've been getting our fair share of it.
ShawnYeah, no, the the turbulence down in Florida, yeah, we're we're sitting down quite a bit. Quite a bit, quite a bit. Yeah, but I was reading about these, and they had 22 of them divert to Colorado Springs. Unusual to have that many airplanes divert.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
ShawnI think they said like five people that needed medical assistance. That's that's really not bad.
GWell for 22 flights, you know that different mountain range there from Colorado Springs and Denver, yeah. Right? Like total mountain wave activity, like they get it bad all the time.
ShawnRight, but when you think about 22 planes diverted because of turbines, yeah, on only only five people were were injured, yeah. That's actually pretty good. Yeah. This is why you
Evacuation Video And Passengers Grabbing Bags
Shawnfasten your seatbelt. Yeah, okay. This one, this video, this video that you they have to check out, is did you see the one with the lithium battery? Oh, yeah, that was crazy. The evac? Yeah. Now the feds are the feds are on the uh about the flight attendants all the time about the evacs. Right. It's not the it's not the flight attendants.
SPEAKER_03No.
ShawnIf you guys watch this video, it's a perfect example. You can watch it down below. Yeah, we're putting the link down below. Go go watch this video from the link below and see this this evacuation. They're they're telling them to get off the plane. People are just standing there and they're arguing. Yes. The one guy like, get off, we're evacuating. Get off. The one guy was looking like, quit yelling at me. Yeah, quit yelling at me. Yeah. You don't have to yell. Yeah. Get off the plane. The other ones are looking for their bags.
GRight. Putting their backpack. And then the one lady's like, there's no emergency, there's no fire, there's nothing. No, that's not your call, babe. Right. But yet they're going out the room. The loose road doesn't make the call on if we are evacuating or not. Yeah.
ShawnOnce we start doing it, we're doing it. Yeah. And they're yelling at them, telling them to leave their bags as they're putting their backpacks on their body.
GLeave your bags. Right. Oh, it was like the video was priceless. Unbelievable. And people just stood there like, thank God the plane wasn't on fire or something. Because it was literally, people just like, you know, just like are you sure you want to do it?
ShawnIt's a perfect example, though, of the FAA, the FAA is saying the crews need more training. You can't get them. You can't get them to move.
GNo, you can't get the passengers to move. That's the thing. You can't get them to move. It's it's not that flight attendants needed training, it's the passengers need training. And wait, what they need to do is they'd have to have more PSAs out there about how dangerous it is, and more videos and more teaching the public. It says it's the public that needs to be taught, not us.
ShawnRight? No, that's what I'm saying. I mean, the the video just I mean, it it perfectly illustrates that.
GYeah. Without a doubt.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
GBut then then
Alligators Viral Anthems And An Iceberg Flip
Gyou're talking about other idiots like this other video that we linked down below. That dude.
ShawnWho has an alligator? Who walks around with an alligator? He's holding an alligator like it's a baby.
GLike it's a pet. He's like, I was waiting in the video. Like when you sent me the link to the thing, I was waiting for the the the he has this thing and he's kind of like petting it. Like the like, I was waiting for them thing to just turn around and just like come up. Yeah, I know.
ShawnAnd I was like, like I mean, I was looking at the face. I was waiting for that rub. I know, I so was I.
GIt didn't happen.
ShawnIt's like like alligator rub.
GYeah. I'm like, people are so stupid.
ShawnIt's so dumb. Nobody should be holding an alligator. An alligator. It's just dumb. Okay, now this has gone around more than any video this week. What's that? The national anthem at the women's professional first baseball game. Oh, horrible. It was so painful. I don't know if you guys have seen it.
GHorrific. When you if can I say this? She the the singer, she's she's past her years.
ShawnDid you be nice? Okay, but we didn't know who it was at first.
GYeah, we didn't know. When you start looking up and doing some investigating on this video that's linked below, right, that you find out who was it?
ShawnMartha Rees. Martha Rees. Yeah, she was Martha in the Vandelas, and she had some great songs. Yeah. I mean, songs we still listen to. Right. I mean, she's she's got good music, but she is past her. She likes she can't even hear herself.
GShe shouldn't be like somebody need tell her people. It was painful. Somebody tell her.
ShawnIt was painful. Like 30 million times painful.
GThe two gals that were singing with her were kind of like in disbelief.
ShawnWhen you hear off-key, when you hear off-key, you sing off-key. Did you hear they were actually singing off-key from her? It was just a complete mess. It was very off. Understatement off. Yeah. League of League of Their Own, right? I love that movie. Yeah. Tom Hanks. Yeah. Love that movie. This is not the way it started off. No, no. This is not the way. You're not exactly going to have a.
GIf Tom was in the thing, he'd be saying, there's no bad singing anthem people in baseball.
ShawnThere's not going to be a big, a big public draw. What what who let her sing? If you looked in in the audience, they're like, Yeah. It was like nails on the chalkboard. Head was turning. Head was turned a little bit. Right. But before we get before we get out of here, that was actually really cool. Really cool. Was the iceberg it was unfricking believable.
GIf there's one video you gotta watch at and of all these ones that were mentioned, the link down below of this iceberg that flips over is unbelievable. It's like five-minute long video. Yeah. I was like mesmerized.
ShawnWe were trying to figure out, we were trying to figure out how the hell it happened. How did it flip?
GHow does that like that would be a good like um, you know, like like one of those like science guys, like Bill Nye or something like that, like be like, how does this happen? And this and then he goes, like, the reasons of how this should happen. Think think about that physics of it.
ShawnYou know, you know, if if an ice cube is thinner at the bottom, right, and then heavier at the top. Well, it's gonna flip. We might have solved it. Maybe. Who knows? We're so smart. We're not just slightly in some pretty faces. But no, it actually was a very, very cool video, and we just solved it, Sean.
GExactly, man.
ShawnIt was it, but we can't we can't answer why the damn thing broke apart.
GWho knows?
ShawnYeah, whatever. A little warm water or something. All right.
Life Advice And Closing Thoughts
ShawnInspirational quote Life is too short to sweat, sweat the small stuff. Have fun, look forward to every day. It's a gift. Regret nothing, and don't ever let any people bring you down. Nope. And even when you hit a water line, just keep going. Yeah, just keep swimming. Or remember when you get that asshole that's on the plane that's trying to egg you on. Yeah. Just keep keep going. Just keep it together. Let it go. Keep it together, brother. I was keeping it together. Right? I was getting chicken skin. I haven't had chicken skin for a long time. A long time. So I don't want to get chicken skin again. Don't push my button. I'm I'm I'm not good at that. All right. Push the button off. See you next week. See you next week. Have the last word, Sean. I just did.
